Developmental Milestones for Children

While each child may develop at his/her own pace, the information shared here was pulled directly from the CDC milestones.  Please note that these milestones represent an average, indicating what most children (75% or more) can typically do by a specific age.

2 Months

Holds head up during tummy time, & moves both arms and legs.

4 Months

Holds head up without support when being held, holds a toy/object if placed in hands, uses arm to swing at toys, brings hands to mouth, & pushes up onto elbows/forearms during tummy time.

6 Months

Rolls from tummy to back, pushes up straight arms when on tummy, & leans on hands to support himself/herself when sitting.

9 Months

Independently gets self into sitting position, moves things from one hand to the other, & sits without support.

1 Year

Pulls up to stand & walks while holding onto furniture.

15 Months

Takes a few steps on his/her own.

18 Months

Walks without holding onto anyone or anything & climbs on/off a couch or chair without help.

2 Years

Kicks a ball, runs, & walks (not climbs) up a few stairs with or without help.

2 ½ Years

Jumps off the ground with both feet.

4 Years

Catches a large ball most of the time.
