Are you looking for a fun way to entertain your kiddos this summer while also helping to improve their gross motor skills? You've come to the right place. Check out these great ideas from Physical Therapy here at Innovative Therapy Center.

Crab Walks
Sit on the floor with knees bent and hands flat on the ground behind you, lift your hips off the floor so your body is supported by your hands and feet. Move forward, backwards, and sideways!
Frog Jumps
Squat down like a frog then jump up real high with your arms up in the air. Who can get the highest?
Bear Crawl
Begin on hands and knees in a tabletop position, lift knees a few inches off the ground so only your hands and feet are touching. Make sure to keep your back flat!
Flamingo Stance
Stand on one leg! How long can you stand without holding on to a wall?
Once you pick a "Zoo" movement, you can add a fun challenge. For example, "how many frog jumps does it take to get to the bed?" or "can you bear crawl to the table?".
If you have concerns with your child's gross motor skills (i.e. riding a bike, jumping, balancing on one let, and more), make sure to reach out to schedule an evaluation with our PT here at Innovative Therapy Center.
